Author's Table

Books written about subjects I care deeply about, including financial literacy for kids, first experiences, and the endlessly interesting relationship between beer and food.

Brooke Will Not Be Broke

A fleeting idea inspired by my daughter grew into a children’s book series built to make financial literacy easier for families to introduce and more engaging for kids to learn.

Financial literacy mattered to me long before I became a parent. I have always tried to live with no debt outside the mortgage, and I began teaching personal finance classes in my community years before my kids were born. When Brooke came along, I had a passing thought for a children’s book called Brooke Will Not Be Broke. The title stuck with me, even as the idea sat in the background for a while. Over time, that single book concept developed into a broader series of stories, games, and activities I could use with Brooke and Blake to start practical conversations about money. The project brought together my experience in financial education with writing, creative direction, and publishing, eventually becoming part of the foundation for Little Ledger Press. What began as something personal for my own family grew into a resource designed to help other parents give their children an earlier and more confident start with money.

Pairing with Pros

A notebook of beer and food pairings grew into a 66-recipe cookbook built through years of cooking, tasting, and collaboration with friends across the beer industry.

Pairing with Pros began during the early days of COVID, when I was cooking at home and missing the connection of hosting beer dinners. I started documenting what happened from bite to sip, filling a notebook with pairings that eventually found its way into a drawer. While studying for the Advanced Cicerone exam, I pulled it back out and began developing the idea with more structure. Each recipe became an exploration of the dish, the beer, and the specific interaction between them. I developed more than 125 pairings before narrowing the book to 50 of my favorites. Every dish was cooked, tasted, and photographed in my home studio using tools available to most home cooks. As the book took shape, I invited 16 friends and respected professionals from across the beer industry to contribute their own recipes and perspectives. Releasing in August 2026, Pairing with Pros brings those 66 recipes together in a cookbook shaped by the same community that inspired the project from the beginning.

The Tales of Waffles the Corgi

A children’s book series inspired by our family corgi and built around first experiences.

Tales of Waffles the Corgi grew from the idea of using a familiar, lovable character to help kids explore new experiences with a little more confidence and curiosity. Waffles became the center of stories shaped by moments from family life, giving me a way to turn everyday adventures into books that felt personal, playful, and easy for children to connect with. Waffles Goes to Taekwondo and Where’s Waffles? are currently published and available. Early drafts for Waffles Goes to Gymnastics, Waffles Goes to Soccer, and Waffles Goes to Camp are also underway, with releases planned for late 2026 or early 2027. The series continues to grow alongside my kids, with plenty of room for Waffles to keep discovering new places, activities, and experiences.
